Here was the result of today’s Fourth of July baking adventure! It’s a “pie-cake,” the recipe of which can be found here. It took some work and time, but I wouldn’t say it was especially hard. I had to make the recipe half again as large to fit my pan, which really wasn’t a big deal at all, but it caused me some initial stress. Special thanks to TheCakeBar for the recipe and advice. That’s a really great blog for any bakers out there; you should totally follow it. 

So there’s a pie crust, a layer of blueberry filling, a layer of lemon mousse, and a layer of raspberry filling, topped with fruit and mousse to form that lovely flag. All homemade of course, and all delicious separately. Can’t wait to see how they taste together!

My mom’s taking it to her work carry-in tomorrow. They were supposed to bring in the most patriotic dishes they could, so I hope this and my striped cupcakes will impress! :)
