chat-assez-noir asked: Hi! I really love your blog and I've actually made a lot of the recopies shown here. I'm currently super into pies, mini pies to exact, and no matter what i do the fillings always bubble out. What could I do to prevent that or make it happen less? Cause when the pies are done I feel like all the filling bubbled out.
When a pie is done it bubbles on the top. Actually the reason holes are added to pies is so you can tell when it’s done (by the bubbling in the middle). Are you adding holes? you need to if it’s not an open pie. It needs to ‘breathe’
the holes are usually also decorative too. I suggest you don’t over fill the pies, make sure the filling is not too runny (follow recipe instructions perfectly).
****A little bubble out is normal, always add a pan under your pie so the oven doesn’t catch fire if filling spills over to oven floor
Also make sure you’re oven is at the correct temperature the recipe requires (if you have to use an oven thermometer)
Pies are usually baked quickly maybe 15-20 minutes depending on the recipe, so don’t over-bake. That may be why it’s spilling over too/runny… cuz u not baking long enough. That’s why I say to always follow a recipe perfectly so everything works out correctly
Also, an already cooked filling when being placed inside mini pies is great help so your crust doesn’t burn waiting on the mini pie to be done.
