DIY Fruit Delights!

I can’t tell you how much I love fresh fruit in the summer. Beyond the amazing taste of fruit, particularly when it is in season, the bright colors and shapes are a source of endless inspiration. It is no surprise then that this weekend when I decided to do some baking that I went for a fruit theme that was oh so fun to decorate and would be a perfect afternoon party theme. You can also combine with real fruit for some delightful noshing.

For fruit cookies, you simply need food coloring, a good frosting recipe, fruit cookie cutters and an easy cookie dough recipe. When the cookies are baking, mix up the frosting and separate into a few bowls to create a variety of colors for your fruits. I then used a paintbrush to paint on the frosting to be more exact. For some added fun, you can add fruit extracts to the frosting so it not only looks fruity but also tastes fruity. Lastly, don’t forget the sprinkles!

For fruit cupcakes, you just need an easy cupcake recipe, some thicker frosting, food coloring / sprinkles, cupcake holders and squeeze bottles to pipe the fruits on the cupcakes. I used sprinkles to color my fruits but you could also use frosting.

These sweet, fruity bites promise to make your summer that much sweeter—Enjoy!

Blueberry “Sushi” Crepes
This is a cute idea, obviously this is not really sushi. They’re just rolled to look like ‘sushi’… How cute! They’re filled with cream and fresh blueberries. This can be served as breakfast or as a dessert crepe :)
