Gender Reveal Party DIY Ideas!

I love this so much! You must watch this if you are pregnant, knows a couple who is pregnant, or know a couple planning a pregnancy!!!

This video brings out a very good point that I never mention in my gender reveal posts, which is that gender reveal parties are not about gift giving like a baby shower would be but are more a celebratory party, therefore it would not be appropriate to ask for gifts, give gifts, expect gifts. It’s just a fun party to reveal the gender of the baby and to celebrate the happy occasion.

I personally think gender reveal parties should be held AFTER the baby shower as a nice ‘treat’ for your family and friends to get together relax and just enjoy themselves without the pressures of giving more gifts etc…. (that is if you didn’t reveal the gender at your baby shower! If you did it sorta defeats the purpose of the party!, this is where planning ahead comes in! ) :D

A secondary affect of GRP’s is that it turns out to be a good way of saying thank you for the baby shower/gifts etc… Fun times!

DIY: Meringue Message Cones! (tutorial)

These “Secret Message Cones” from BHG are inspired by fortune cookies and featured as a creative homemade Valentine idea, but they would ALSO be a fabulous addition to birthday parties, bridal showers, and baby showers (especially a “Cravings” or “Pickles & Ice Cream” theme!)

You’ll need sugar cones, meringue cookies, and chocolate chips for the ice cream cone portion. (All can be store-bought.) For the homemade valentine, you’ll also need paper for the “message” and colorful nonpareils.

To modify this idea as a party favor, you can either tailor the inside message to your particular occasion OR fill the cone with something different like  jelly bellies, pink m&ms, or a flavored lip gloss, essentially using the ice cream cone as your “favor packaging”. Sweet!

Gender Reveal Party Chocolate Chip Cookies! (recipe/tutorial)

  • A gender reveal party is a party given to reveal the sex of mom-to-be’s baby. Sometimes the couple knows, sometimes they find out with the rest of the guests!
  • The gender is revealed to the guests (and parents) by the blue or pink cake/dessert fillings… too cute!

Boy or Girl? Gender Reveal Party | The Pretty Blog
My sister was telling me recently that a friend of hers had a baby reveal cake at her baby shower. I’d never heard of it so I did some Googling and was amazed at how popular it is! What I like about this idea is that you get to share the amazing surprise with all your family and friends! There are different games too - get your guests to add to the tally whether or not they think it’s going to be a boy or girl, and the super sweet ‘Dear Baby’ game where guests write their wishes to the bub to be. Very Cinderella-ish! And the best part - the reveal cake, because not only do you get to find out the sex of the baby but you get delicious cake too!
